Law 204 - Law for Arts and Culture
This course addresses the needs of persons who will be active in the arts and culture business as artists, managers, organizers or sponsors. The course will begin by explaining the basic concepts of copyright and contract laws and continue by focusing on different transactions that may take place between the actors of the business, such as licence contracts, performance contracts, exhibition contracts, sponsorship contracts and the like.
LAW 303 - Law of Media and Communication
The world is witnessing rapid changes in the areas of mass media and communication which result in a need for the law to adapt. The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the relevant legal concepts and issues of the law of media and communication. The content of the course includes the following: information and communication, freedom of information, law of defamation, obscenity laws and the right to privacy.
LAW 360 - Internet Law
The internet is one of the most significant consequences of developments in information technology. Today, the internet pervades individuals' lives. Furthermore, there are increasing numbers of transactions concluded via the internet in the international as well as the national arena. The principles and manner concerning the settlement of disputes arising out of these cyber-transactions are the subject of this course. The legal nature of the institutions that are encountered in the cyber environment stands as a challenge. In this course, the digital and electronic signature as an outcome of the internet, as well as the effects of electronic money on the monetary policies of governments and other issues such as domain names, e-commerce and related payment methods, are studied from a legal perspective.
LAW 470 - Law of Intellectual and Industrial Property
Intellectual property rights, by virtue of their aim, are considered a part of commercial law. The framework of the course covers patents, trademarks, copyrights and other related intellectual property issues. Protection of intellectual property rights at the national and international levels, assertion of the rights and particular protection by lawsuits are the other topics that constitute the basis of the course.

LAW 535 - Information Technology Law
The Internet has become an inseparable part of shopping habits and the international commercial sale of goods. Commercial transactions taking place on the Internet have raised particular issues and problems. This course covers cyberspace, electronic monies, digital signatures, formation and performance of electronic contracts and relevant legal disputes. In addition, an analysis of the Internet shall be made from a public law perspective. Special emphasis will be placed on questions created by the use of the Internet: basic principles regarding Internet law and policy, restrictions on the freedom of expression on the Internet, legal responsibilities of Internet Service Providers, questions related to domain names, protection of personal data, copyrights and the Internet, cyber crimes, communication technologies and philosophy of law will be analyzed. Moreover, issues of actual interest such as e-State, CRM, public offerings of Internet companies and such will also be discussed.
LAW 550 - Copyright Law
This course aims at discussing the dogmatic principles and application of the law on intellectual and artistic works (Copyright Law). The course will be dedicated to examining the system and basic concepts of the law such as work, authorship, authors' rights and limitations, related rights, legal transactions and administrative and legal protection measures. In this context, issues regarding copyright protection on the internet, the problem of musical works, as well as protection of rights through professional associations and criminal prosecution methods and problems will be discussed.
LAW 587 - Electronic Commerce Law
The objective of this course is to analyze the principles and regulations applicable to electronic commerce on both national and international levels. The content of the course will be based upon pertinent Turkish, European and American law as well as international agreements such as the Vienna Convention.
LAW 612 - Patent and Utility Model Law
The adoption of the Decree No. 551 on the Protection of Patents on one hand and technological developments on the other have attracted growing interest to patent law in Turkey. This course shall evaluate the concepts of patent and utility model, patentability criteria, patenting procedures, the scope and limitation of patent rights and legal transactions on patent rights, in light of the provisions of the Decree No. 551.
LAW 618 - Copyright Law in Practice
This course is addressed to persons who possess previous knowledge of the theoretical foundations of copyright law and aims to create a platform where problems regarding copyright law practice can be discussed with practitioners. The purpose of the course is to inform participants about actual developments in copyright law practice on the one hand, and to encourage them to use their theoretical knowledge to find solutions on the other. Each week, a different topic will be handled together with a legal practitioner or an expert invited from professional associations or relevant public authorities, and an effort will be made to evaluate problems and produce possible solutions.
